An aviary is a large enclosure for confining birds. Unlike cages, aviaries allow birds a larger living space where they can fly; hence, aviaries are also sometimes known as flight cages. Aviaries often contain plants and shrubbery to simulate a natural environment.

Figure 1.
Intensely close-up. An owl's motions are portrayed through video. Sharp sounds pierce the air; bird head movements follow. As the noise radiates and pulses faster, the owl's head starts moving uncontrollably.

Figure 2.
Inside a wooden, glass-covered vitrine, lies a white feather. A feather of a special bird, a rare kind, of the one that only resides in the mind. The fabricated feather with intricate detailedness tricks our perception. The feather indicates that everything we choose and value in life for its lightness soon reveals its true, unbearable weight.

Could we compare our mind to an aviary? For as long as we restrict ourselves to overwhelm, the saturation of information, the mind is not able to find a resting spot and our humanness becomes craziness. The works illustrate over stimulation through knowledge and perceived understanding of the human condition, through animal representation.
